Match Thread: Liverpool vs Everton | English Premier League

  • KCYNWA6a day ago

Van Dijk cleaning out Tarkowski was pretty funny given circumstances

  • Kopman6a day ago

Can someone sit down Pickford and figure out what is going on in his head when he goes into challenges. Jumping into Kelleher and the kick through Nunez is unacceptable.

    • KCYNWA9a day ago

Ref completely lost that game. As they tend to do here

    • aelfwine_widlast4a day ago

He’s always looking to end someone’s season, it’s the one trophy he can aspire to.

  • Silent-Act19110a day ago

I know that diversity in the workplace is important, but you really have to rethink your hiring policy when 90% of your workforce is blind.

    • Automatic-Mushroom-3👤3a day ago

      Indeed.

  • Comfortable-Pace3132👤-17a day ago

So is the victory parade just going to be thousands of Liverpool fans moaning about how they’ve got nothing to moan about for 3 months until the next season begins

  • MaestroVIII👤10a day ago

4 points to Liverpool across the tie and Everton feel like winners lmao

    • Silent-Act19113a day ago

Almost broke two of our players legs, only thing they get done every year.

      • wi11epi11e3a day ago

        The Everton trophy

  • cemereth2a day ago

big exhale Ffffff. Good. Never a doubt. Jack O’Brien is the real deal and your counter-attack is terrifying. And I am extremely happy we don’t have to face you in the immediate future.

  • MrDman92022a day ago

And the Liverpool player wasn’t on the goal?

  • Riddiku1us10a day ago

12 points clear, beating the also ran rivals; zero crying in the stands or running onto the pitch. Shocking.

  • DangerouslyCheesey11a day ago

    FUCK EVERTON

  • crookedparadigm13a day ago

Jones please go shush the blue cunts in the corner

  • golvin6714a day ago

It wasn’t pretty, but winning against 12 men never is

  • herkalurk4a day ago

Why even allow Everton to take the goal kick if you’re just going to end the game? The ball was stopped, end the game….

    • golvin677a day ago

I think they just like the ball in the air because it’s cinematic or something

      • herkalurk-7a day ago

It literally gives Everton a false sense of hope that they might have another chance. Referees don’t want dissent? Don’t create an issue. Would have been completely acceptable to just call time when that shot went over the bar. It was already over 96 minutes at that point.

        • Comfortable-Pace3132👤2a day ago

Have you just started watching football

          • herkalurk0a day ago

Been watching for over 20 years, doesn’t mean I have to like it.

        • golvin670a day ago

Wait, I was with you at first, but now I’m in favour of that call

    • extrabox👤-2a day ago

Game can only be ended when the balls in play I think.

      • herkalurk3a day ago

No, referees have ended games many times when the ball goes out.

        • Comfortable-Pace3132👤0a day ago

It’s just how it’s been done since forever

  • Silent-Act1919a day ago

Can we get the Nottingham Forest social media manager to write us a statement?

  • greenygp19👤12a day ago

“Keeping the ball wins the game here”

Nunez tries a speculative shot from range - I love this guy!

    • Funny_Personality_454a day ago

You just knew it was coming as well

      • Maleficent_Injury593👤1a day ago

I was specifically expecting it to go on because it was the most pointless moment to score a worldie.

      • greenygp19👤1a day ago

        Never in any doubt

    • DizzyForDarwizzy👤7a day ago

  • RN2FL915a day ago

Empty goal, 2 players on the break, whistles it off??

    • batigoal5a day ago

He didn’t give advantage before when Nunez would have earned a penalty either.

  • Funny_Personality_4510a day ago

Get in, now Curtis go piss off the Everton fans

  • harrypoos3a day ago

    Robertson tonight has looked awesome

  • cynicalreason11a day ago

The ref .. 0/10, Tierney acolyte

  • cunninglinguist31615a day ago

Why the fuck wouldn’t you play advantage there

    • adamfrog1a day ago

at 1-0 he blows the whistle and its basically a Liverpool win, play advantage while our keepers knocked out and we fuck up the counter, Everton score an open goal and its a massive ref controversy. Annoying but ref probably handled it correctly

      • cunninglinguist3162a day ago

That’s the point of advantage. You wait to see if you fuck the counter, if you do you blow it back.

    • Hsiang76a day ago

That’s what I was thinking. Keeper went up and we had a break on with no one in goal. Why wouldn’t you play advantage???

    • deadlygr👤5a day ago

      Because he sucks

    • make_thick_in_warm7a day ago

Same reason you don’t give Tarkowski a red card

  • furryicecubes20a day ago

Someone teach the ref what fucking advantage is please. Could have broken for a second there

    • Funny_Personality_454a day ago

We had broken and Pickford was in our box

  • golvin676a day ago

Blow the whistle, you absolute cunt waffle

  • JumpingDeer2619a day ago

Open net, clearly no advantage happening here lol

  • golvin6720a day ago

Did he just not play the advantage on an empty Everton goal?

  • crookedparadigm8a day ago

Not me wishing Shitford gets punched in the face after the whistle, since the whistle means anything goes

    • Rockishcola-6a day ago

      Proper rattled

      • crookedparadigm3a day ago

Rattled that your keeper deliberately tries to hurt our players on the regular? Yeah, guess I’m weird like that. Talk more shit though, you did snag the illustrious “barely scraped a draw at home with the refs’ help” trophy this season so I can see why you’re feeling pretty high and mighty.

  • Zufallsmensch12a day ago

    • wicketRF4a day ago

edit: i dont like how offside is currently called, but it is at least explainable

      • MrDman9202-2a day ago

How? He was standing still and it was cleared before he could make a play on it?

        • wicketRF3a day ago

Did everyone seriously miss Nunez rolling back onto the pitch? Pickford is a shit bag and only got away without a card because the whistle had already blown, but it’s obvious why Nunez was booked.

    • Funny_Personality_454a day ago

Pickford should have also still been booked though

  • VladTheImpaler292a day ago

My Kingdom for someone to welly the ball up to The Kop End and a potential Nunez receipt.

  • Zilant5a day ago

I’m guessing Núñez was booked for rolling back onto the pitch. Horrendous refereeing though.

    • ADC041a day ago

      Good refereeing for booking that

  • KAY5435-13a day ago

Nunez got booked for time wasting as he carried on playing after the whistle was blown as he could of stopped before being fouled by Pickford

    • SalahsBeard3a day ago

Classic Pickford to try to murder our players after the whistle is blown. I fucking hate him, and the rest of the toffee fucks.

      • KAY54350a day ago

I do agree that Pickford doesn’t need to do it as it would of been quicker for him to let Nunez shoot rather than snap into him

    • elvenmage24-1a day ago

No stop being rational we need an excuse to fit the narrative that Pickford is trying to snap people in half

    • Funny_Personality_454a day ago

No he got booked for rolling back onto the pitch

  • ArtemisRifle🇹🇷7a day ago

Two of the worst non-VAR interventions I’ve ever seen. Tell me again, what is the point of this system? Every day that passes the Swedes and Wolves look smarter and smarter.

    • Alternative-Award7843a day ago

As long as it’s the same refs doing VAR and not an independent organisation there is no point.

      • ArtemisRifle🇹🇷1a day ago

It lends legitimacy to the conspiracies, which seem less conspiracy-y every week. The game is better off without it. Because if the calls are going to be shit either way, at least we don’t have the insulting pretense.

  • spicychili8635a day ago

You know Pickford’s eyes lit up the second he saw a player he could challenge after the whistle had already gone

    • Sondergaaard👤13a day ago

Pickford the fucking rat wanted to injure him for sure

  • crookedparadigm13a day ago

No joke, Nunez would get a statue if his final act for Liverpool was to fly in and clatter Pickford

  • lookitsjustin11a day ago

If football was measured by doing shady shit and getting away without punishment, Pickford would be the fucking best player in the world

    • xxandl5a day ago

He would have his tiny arms all over that trophy..

  • xxandl4a day ago

Main question: Why would you whistle when a striker and a defender are running on goal?

    • ADC041a day ago

Obviously there wasn’t any advantage for the foul in the lead up

  • NoelFromBandOsmosis7a day ago

Pickford should have had a card for that crazy “tackle,” but Nunez getting a yellow for rolling onto the pitch just to delay the restart is also more than deserved. I also agree with no penalty as play was actually stopped, but Pickford still should have seen something.

    • djneill1a day ago

Yeah if Pickford got a yellow I wouldn’t annoyed at all but Nunez’ while deserved technically is niche as fuck, whereas booting someone in the thigh is obvious as shit

  • Gasoline_Dreams7a day ago

Subbing Darwin on is like pulling the pin on a grenade

  • golvin675a day ago

    It’s gonna be a jammy 1-1 at 90+11’, isn’t it?

    • sondergaard9132a day ago

    • 5_percent_discocunt8a day ago

Yep and you know exactly who’s scoring

      • SwitchHitter170a day ago

        Pickford obviously

  • herkalurk0a day ago

Only 6? That should have been longer…..

  • Uniform7649a day ago

The fuck was Darwin carded for. He plays the ball and then Pickford boots him across both legs well after the ball is played.

    • Brit_Orange3a day ago

Rolling back onto the pitch when he was injured

    • Funny_Personality_454a day ago

For rolling back onto the pitch

  • hazzap913👤6a day ago

So nunez gets a yellow for getting fouled and we don’t get a pen, make it make sense

    • sammeetthosar👤1a day ago

Yellow seems like it was for coming on the field even though he was rolling around outside the touchline to delay the restart.

    • Rockishcola0a day ago

Yellow card for rolling into the pitch to delay the game

    • 5_percent_discocunt2a day ago

Makes sense that we don’t get a pen. Ref blew the whistle a while before…

The fact Nunez got booked over Pickford is mindbending.

      • hazzap913👤1a day ago

If anything it’s worse because he’s done it after the whistle he didn’t bother stopping

      • humanbeingme0a day ago

Time wasting. You watched him roll back on the pitch

    • SwitchHitter173a day ago

Why would you get a pen for something that happened after the ref stopped the game?

    • Funny_Personality_453a day ago

The whistle had already been blown

    • BarbaricGamers5a day ago

There was already a foul called so there cant be another one called because the play was dead, and Nunez rolled back on the field to waste time and got a yellow for it. Hope that made sense to you.

    • furryicecubes3a day ago

Whistle went earlier. On the yellow, not a fucking clue.

      • Mynameisdiehard0a day ago

He rolled back onto the pitch after he went down. Refs have to give a yellow for that every time

        • furryicecubes1a day ago

He had the card out before he rolled back onto the pitch. Comms mentioned it.

          • Mynameisdiehard0a day ago

Hmm. Not sure then. Possibly time wasting then for continuing play after the whistle?

            • furryicecubes1a day ago

Pretty sure he booked him for colliding with Pickford.

      • wicketRF3a day ago

even as a liverpool fan i think the yellow made sense, neither pickford nor the guy kciking the shit out of szobo getting away without yellow was puzzling to me though

      • Stirlingblue0a day ago

Rolling back on the pitch to delay the restart

  • A15Smith22👤15a day ago

Pickford loves cleaning out players after the whistle with zero punishment

    • SwitchHitter172a day ago

      The man found a loophole

  • LallanasPajamaz9a day ago

Yellow for Darwin on that play is all you need to see at to understand how ridiculous these refs are. Then add in the red card tackle and you’d wonder if they sign these dudes from Perkins School for the Blind.

    • ADC040a day ago

It’s funny for those that don’t know the rules are the first to bash the refs for actually enforcing the rules hahahaha

      • LallanasPajamaz1a day ago

I know the rules, I’m saying this ref is an idiot regardless.

    • BooMasterChoo👤-1a day ago

It was a completely warranted decision. Obvious timewasting and unsportsmanlike from Nunez

      • LallanasPajamaz0a day ago

Wasn’t like he was clattered into and blatantly fouled or anything, so wanting treatment = time wasting lmao… add in that the foul was well after the whistle and Darwin’s the unsportsmanlike one in this scenario?

        • BooMasterChoo👤-1a day ago

You can get treatment outside the pitch. Either you’re blinded by bias or you don’t know the laws of the game

          • LallanasPajamaz0a day ago

Yes, Darwin can indeed get treatment off the pitch. However, why the fuck would you reward the opposition, who committed the foul after the whistle and took a player out, with an advantage of playing against 10 men while he gets treatment. Not only do you get to potentially take another player out you also avoid the repercussions…

We should just start fouling players after the whistle when they’re off the pitch to grab a ball for a throw in since cards apparently aren’t issued for after-the-whistle-fouls, then if they come onto the pitch to get their duly deserved attention they are the ones who in fact get carded. It’s a win-win.

            • BooMasterChoo👤0a day ago

Okay and the price of his timewasting is a yellow card. Probably a trade he was happy to make. What is the issue here?

              • LallanasPajamaz0a day ago

I literally spelled it out. Pickford made a player targeted foul after the whistle. No card. Player who gets potentially injured comes onto the field to stop the play from continuing so he can get medical treatment so the opposing team isn’t clearly doubly rewarded for making a reckless foul and cutting the men on field down for a significant time and escaping the card punishment… yet for you that’s time wasting… my point is clearly that Pickford deserves a card for his foul because otherwise he has been rewarded for intentionally taking a player out after the whistle with an 11v10 situation, AND suffered no adverse consequence for doing so: there is not stoppage of the game because Darwin remains off the field if he abides the rules, there is no card for his reckless foul, and there is an 11v10 advantage. Carding one player because “he’s breaking rules” while simultaneously NOT carding another player that infringes the rules by potentially harming a player, and actually rewarding them instead, is my point.

Sometimes I wish Reddit required an IQ test for account sign up lmao

                • BooMasterChoo👤0a day ago

I just think you’re daft if you think there was anything intentional about it. Referees obviously didn’t think so either

                  • LallanasPajamaz0a day ago

Lmao because as we clearly saw in this match with the tackle on MacAllister, the refs ideas about fouls are 100% infallible… Pickford absolutely smashed through Darwin knowing full well what he was doing.

    • aelfwine_widlast1a day ago

      “But they’re paid too little!”

      • LallanasPajamaz2a day ago

Good, they should be docked 2% of their pay for every incorrect call too

      • LordTubzy123👤0a day ago

Not a penalty but should be a red card. If it’s not, it means that any time the whistle has blown, you are allowed to kick someone

    • Runarhalldor👤1a day ago

      Whistle had already been blown

      • umarstar768👤2a day ago

Why did nunez get yellow though??

        • humanbeingme0a day ago

          Timewasting

        • Runarhalldor👤0a day ago

Because he rolled back onto the field trying to stop the game from restarting too soon without him

The game can continue if an injured player is not on the field. But if hes down on the pitch, it cannot start again until hes off

  • theglasscase-2a day ago

Absolutely deserved yellow for Darwin Nunez. He was off the pitch claiming to be injured and waiting for treatment, then rolled back onto it to stop the game from restarting. Players should always be booked for that, textbook unsporting behaviour.

  • Lewismangomango0a day ago

Why does he get a yellow for not hearing the whistle

  • sondergaard9133a day ago

Now comes that 15min extra time for the 5min extra time given

  • cunninglinguist31610a day ago

So I guess you can just punch someone in the face as long as the whistles gone

    • Runarhalldor👤1a day ago

You cant do intentional(?) violent conduct. Anything else is allowed

  • Runarhalldor👤-2a day ago

Nunez got a yellow for clearly timewasting and rolling onto the field.

Pickford cant get carded unless its a red because he already blew the whistle. The ref probably shouldve waited longer to whistle but his hands were tied afterwards

    • anderssy👤1a day ago

You can absolutely get red carded once whistle is blown. Agree with the yellow but deadball reds happen

      • Runarhalldor👤1a day ago

I mean i said unless its a red. You can even get a yellow. But only for tussles and etc

        • anderssy👤1a day ago

Oops you’re right I read it wrong. But yeah weird they didn’t even look. But Tierney on VAR

    • voliton2a day ago

Pickford cant get carded unless its a red because he already blew the whistle.

This isn’t true at all. You can obviously be given a yellow after the whistle is blown.

      • Runarhalldor👤1a day ago

Only for intentional violent conduct. Literally why pickford didnt get sent off for his foul on vvd ages ago

      • Runarhalldor👤1a day ago

        Only for intentional violent conduct

    • ADC042a day ago

He obviously didn’t see an advantage once o brien got to the ball first and called it to be brought back to the earlier foul

      • Runarhalldor👤2a day ago

Yeah i can see why he blew the whistle when he did. I just dont exactly agree with it. But im not an expert in the laws at all

        • ADC041a day ago

Yeah of course, but technically there was an unfair advantage by o brien and the right thing was to bring it back, what happens after the defender can say they heard the whistle and stopped

    • djneill0a day ago

True but he absolutely can give yellow for a foul even though the whistle’s gone. Just can’t be a penalty

      • Runarhalldor👤0a day ago

Much stricter reasons to give a yellow when the play isnt active.

        • djneill1a day ago

No it isn’t you just can’t give one for stopping play obviously but booting somebody in the thigh is absolutely a yellow
